Samantha felt her smile waver, but she did her best to keep it steady. “Keep trying, Jul. Please.” She could see a little flash in the other’s eyes, and so moved the picture closer to the both of them. “Your nan took this one. Did you know that?”
Shaking her head, she examined the tree closer. On the branch above her head was a bird’s nest and her brows burrowed in confusion. “That nest wasn’t there the summer we climbed the tree. I sat on that branch while I waited for you to get up, and I sat right where the nest is.”
