wardenforaking:

His hand that caressed her back slowly began to move back and forth, shushing her quietly as though to calm her as she lay beside him, forehead upon his shoulder. Time was running short. Time to which he had once hoped he would gain more of.

“Because you are the only person I know who can battle such odds.” Ali whispered, his voice hoarse over due to the lack of energy being stored within his body as seconds simply just passed by.

Feeling her grip tighten, a small smile crept upon the biotics lips. Home was always where he felt to keep his heart. With Juliette and Kai, he felt secure, loved as not only a lover, but a brother as well.

“I want you to live, Juliette. I want you to keep fighting for what you know is right.” The Reapers were still at large.. someone had to continue on to bring about their downfall. “People are depending on you… don’t make them wait for a future they so long to see.”

She let out a watery chuckle as she heard his words. They were so similar to the words Kai had give her once a long time ago. It made her smile to know that the two were so similar to each other that they even gave the same advice.

“I’ll try not to,” she promised, sobering almost immediately. She wasn’t sure how she’d be able to throw herself back into the fight without the biotic by her side, but she mentally prepared herself to try.

“I always thought you’d be there. With Kai and I when this finally ended. Part of me always held out the hope that we’d all return to Earth and live happily ever after. You and Kai would get married and have kids. I’d be the crazy aunt…”

All of that was gone now. If such a possibility had even existed. “I’m sorry, brother."
