Juliette smiled weakly at the man, her eyes half closed as the world around her started to dim. “Thank you Ali… For everything.”

His grip around her hand tightened upon watching her pain increase. Knowing that someone had not long for this world was hard. Watching them flutter away from it however was a fate worse than death itself.

Watching as she managed a small but painful smile toward him, Ali reaped out and gently caressed her cheek as well as letting his hand gently float down her hair in comfort. A small chuckle escaped his lips. “At least the humor is still in tacked.” He muttered, smiling himself.

“How you know how to see right through me.” He muttered, shaking his head a little as the smile upon his lips lowered. He was losing her.. and there was nothing he could do. That was the worst pain above all.

“Ali-” She started only to break off as a fit of coughing overtook her. Blood splattered the back of her throat and she rolled onto her side as she choked on the metallic tasting liquid. Her lungs struggled with the effort of trying to inhale oxygen, and she heaved.

The edge of her vision was starting to grow blurry and dark. It was all she could do to focus on the ground beneath her. Reaching for her friend’s hand she squeezed it tightly, her eyes closing as the pain raced through her body.

“I’m sorry.” Juliette whispered, as her grip tightened around him. There was more she wanted to say to him, but even thinking about it exhausted her. She wished there was more time, but she could feel the chill starting to settle over her limbs.
