Samantha kept her mouth a straight line as she finished cooking, sliding two servings of eggs in a basket onto separate plates. It wasn’t as though it was a surprise to her that the redhead wasn’t taking her medication, after all. As she set the plate down in front of her girlfriend, she gave the pill bottle a gentle nudge.
“Why don’t you take it now, then, sweet? You’ll feel better in a bit once you do.” She made sure her voice was level as she said it, not wanting to be upsetting or give the impression that she was angry. If anything, she was actually glad Juliette had admitted to it.
She sat down next to the taller woman but didn’t begin eating just yet. Instead she just looked at her for a moment, silently prompting her once more to swallow one of the pills. “You haven’t got to lie to me about it, you know,” she added, but didn’t elaborate.
Juliette’s eyes locked on the bottle of pills that her girlfriend pushed towards her. Sadness and despair settled over her as she stared at the tiny capsules. How was she supposed to live when all they did was slow her down and change her? It’s not like they even really helped. All they did was make her weaker.
Looking up at the specialist she whimpered quietly. “I can’t,” she whispered, edging as far away from the bottle as she could. “They change me.”
The comment about her lying made her feel even worse, and she slide down the back of the chair a fraction, her back cracking in the awkward position. “I’m sorry.” She mumbled, her eyes closing as the voice rose to sweep through her mind and block everything else out.
