Kai’s head snapped to the side. She blinked in disbelief, frozen for a moment as her hand gingerly probed the stinging mark. Tired eyes glanced up at her friend,and Kai caught her bottom lip between her teeth. She sighed and righted herself. “To ask you to live on?”
Rubbing her hand she growled. That’s not what I meant and she knows it. Part of her couldn’t believe she had actually hit her friend, but the other… Kai was being stupid and maybe a good hit would make things sink in. “To just sit back and watch you die, when we can save you…”
