Kai and Juliette met the night Juliette was kidnapped from her grandparents, and was forced to kill a man. Kai provided emotional support to the young Juliette, and the two bonded rather easily. Together they faced down the gang, and ended up leaving the gang and making it to the Alliance. Together they went through N7 training, and eventually ended up on the Normandy together. Juliette has always let Kai take the lead; however, after learning about Kai's death at the hands of the Collector she became merc, and rejoined the Normandy during Kai's mission to take down the Collector's. The two of them work exceedinly well together, even if Juliette seems like she's causing trouble for Kai. Kai is always the first person she looks to for comfort, and Kai is always the first person she thinks of protecting.

Nihlus was aboard the Normandy for the ill fated shakedown mission. Shot by Saren, he was saved by Juliette before he managed to bleed out. Juliette asked Nihlus to stay aboard the Normandy, and he did, continuing to act as mentor to the newly made Spectre. Their relationship remained friendly up until the point Juliette walked in on him masturbating, at which point they both admitted to having feelings. She loves the turian, even if they do continously butt heads. Nihlus challenges her to be a better person, and he's always there for her. They remain good friends, even admist their sexual relationship, and the two of them are not above having a little fun together. Just don't ask about the nerf dart stuck to his face.
